Driftboat

Have you ever wondered what gear I use out on the river?  What books does Jason have on his shelf that inspire him?  Well, here it is.

This is a list of the different gear and resources I use to enjoy my time on the water.

Some of these are affiliate links, which means if you buy through them, WadeOutThere earns a small commission for the referral, at no extra cost to you. “As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.” Even if you click the link to buy boots and end up buying a fly rod, WadeOutThere earns that commission.  Using these helps grow WadeOutThere and supports my art – many thanks.

Everything here is gear that I use and believe in.  That’s the way it will always be at WadeOutThere.

Recommended Drift Boat

Every river and every water is different. So every boat should be too. I think it’s important to get a boat that matches the water your fish. Wherever you fish, make sure your boat is well suited to you and your water. These recommendations are what I’ve landed on for the western rivers that I fish.

Stealthcraft 15 Foot Aftermath

When I moved out west, I knew my first driftboat was only a matter of time, but I wasn’t sure which boat fit me best… until I rowed my friend’s Stealthcraft. I actually was shocked at how easily I could move around the river, how smoothly it rowed, and how much storage was built into every corner.

The cooler pedestal up front, the fly-rod deck on the side, the solid oar lock design — all small but thoughtful details that make my day on the river more efficient, and, well, just more fun.

Their hulls use a polypropylene honeycomb core — that means strong but light — and unlike traditional builds, they’ll never soak up water over time. The Kevlar exterior gives you impact resistance you can trust, so you get a boat that rows easier, motors better, and handles everything from shallow water to whitewater.

And Stealthcraft doesn’t just make great driftboats. From V bottoms, to jet sleds, power drifters and rafts, Stealthcraft makes the best boat for whatever water you fish.

Before you buy another driftboat, row a Stealthcraft. I think you’ll know right away, like I did, Stealthcraft is different, and never look back.

Mention WadeOutThere when you reach out, for 15% OFF your first Stealthcraft boat.

Recommended Drift Boat Gear

I like to build my next on my driftboat. Like my fishing vest, everything in its place, and nothing I don’t need (or at least hopefully not too much I don’t need).

Sawyer Square Top Dyno X Oar

Sawyer makes solid oars. I’ve seen these oars flex HUGE up against the bank, and not break. I was glad I invested in the quality Sawyer is known for. They are well balanced and even my young son can row them.

Onyx Kayak Fishing Life Jacket

This life jacket is light and allows for excellent mobility. It has pockets if you want them, but I tend to keep them empty. I can really forget I have it on sometimes. I have one for everyone aboard.
